Concentration beat coverage

A K-beauty line entering one of Amazon.ca's most crowded categories, where the default outcome is spreading budget thin across a wide catalogue.

THE SITUATION

A K-beauty skincare line entering Canada with no existing presence, into a category where dozens of near-identical products competed on price.

WHAT IT WAS COSTING

The default approach in a crowded category is to advertise the range, on the logic that something will catch. Nothing gets enough spend to accumulate signal, no SKU builds rank, and the account produces a flat line at an expensive ACoS.

WHAT WE DID

Rather than advertise the range, we identified the SKU with the strongest organic conversion signal and concentrated spend behind it, using the remaining catalogue for basket-building rather than acquisition.

TAKEAWAY

In a category that competes on price, the line converted at 4.23% on-page. Concentration beat coverage, and the catalogue earned its keep in the basket rather than at the click.
